The Synapse Connections of a lifetime

Watched Grey's Anatomy just now..

Its a great series.. great especially for those aspiring to be doctors, great especially if you're aspiring to be a surgeon... Unlike scrubs which had more comedies, Grey's Anatomy is the serious stuff, its the real stuff..

The series kicked of with several interns at their first day. And the story revolves around a chatacter, Dr. Grey.

I've known that being a doctor is hectic and all, but this series really potrayed it all.. There was a scene when the intern had to make crucial decisions because her patient was having a seizure, then suddenly her heart stopped.. Dr. Grey was totally blank and kinda lost in her own world, with the nurses shouting at her for instructions. I actually tried imagining myself in that position, and it actually sent some chill down my spine.. When Dr. Grey managed to save the child, i actually felt relieved.. lol!

Watching a movie is nothing like doing the real thing.. there was a scene where another intern was performing appendectomy. Everything went well, he extracted the apendix but then when he tried to sew up the colon, it breaked. Feaces and blood were leaking everywhere (they actually performed i real one i think), and his senior doctor was shouting at him, asking him, "what would you do!?". Again, this doctor went blank totally..

Fear is what i have in my career now, not fear of 48-hour long shifts. But fear of losing a patient under my care.. I risk that everyday for the rest of my career.. Of course, the only reward for all the hardship is the act of saving lives...

I'm suddenly inspired to really study.. not just to pass exams.. but to ensure that i'm adequately prepared to face the challenges that awaits me once i took up the title... DR...

Woke up feeling messed up this morning.. feel like having a hang-over.. lol! But i did not take any alcohol, mind u.. :) Missed a lecture..:( I thought it was 9-10 but it was actually 8-9.. sighs... might as well wake up later.. haha! can sleep more.. But the lecture seemed important.. i think its from Dr. Freeman.. damn.. haha! Guess i'll 'self directed learning' then..

We went to En. Zainal's house yesterday afternoon.. It's a little gathering of the JPA scholars around the area, like sydney U and UNSW. After a little chat, he presented us with FOOD! haha! its rice with curry and chicken and curry chicken and.. just nice Malaysian food..:P Wished there was char kuey teow though.. haha! Anyway, it's always nice to be eating our own delicacy..

Chatted with him for a while as well.. he seemed to be a nice guy. He said he's gonna pay us a visit one day to establish some connection between JPA and Warrane, i.e David Curren.. hehe! That's good.. because our payment history isnt exactly good.. JPA was a little slow the time before.. so it's good that he took the initative.. I honestly think that he's doing a good job based on that.. hehe!

No increase in our allowance.. sad.. I'm left with only $300 to spend for three months.. that's 100 a month.. and 20 a week? lol! But i think i can last.. coz i don't really spend much here.. prefer to stay home and sleep..:P

After that we went to International House to celebrate Anne's birthday. We got her an ice-cream cake.. hehe! We walked all the way from En. Zainal's house to IH, took us around 20 mins.. hehe! It was quite ok.. talked with Choi and Amrit about divine matters.. haha! Actually, i think we debated..:P As usual, debates about religion only ends with disagreement.. lol! Took ice cream to calm us down..:P

We tried to throw Wu Chuan into the koi pond, but he resisted.. and he really resisted so much that we can't throw him in.. lol! He held on to the vines on a pillar so tight, no one could take off his grip.. lol! It was quite funny.. though i'm sure some people in IH would feel a little pissed..:P we so jahat.. haha! then he took Viki's jacket.. haha! he dun wanna give him back..:P We left his slippers on some rocks in the middle of the pond..;p

This week would be a very hectic week for me.. Medshow's this Friday, and everything's still not done yet.. We're going to have a dress rehearsal today, i hope i did better in dancing compared to last time.. haha! It's really tiring actually.. sometimes i wished i did not join.. but it is a great experience for me.. so i don't really know what i want.. Have lots of work to do as well.. my assignment is still incomplete.. though the group project seems to be in near-completion..

Finally found some time for myself to sit in the computer lab and update this blog.. hehe! I'm a little sleepy not though.. fell asleep in the lecture earlier.. but its ok because it's just a plenary.

We've endavoured into the second scenario today.. i was rather surprised, as i did not think that it would be this fast.. The first scenario was rather meaty.. we touched on growth, and thus did a little on embryology, anatomy, physiology and histology. It is surprisingly interesting though, I'm actually really captivated by the complexity of the development of the human embryo. We all began as a cell that divides into 2 layer of cells, then 3 layers, then fold into tubes, yes tubes! Its interesting to think that everything was once just a tube.. Haha! I was rather frustrated at first when i started to study them, but lately i found interest in most of the things that i study.
Anatomy is difficult, and it is rather confusing at first, on what names goes where, and things like that. Slowly, with some help, it gets a little easier.. hehe!

Life's been pretty hectic for the past few weeks.. I have to juggle between medshow rehearsals and gourp projects, assignments and my lectures.. I am feeling a little stress at the moment.. but i guess i can handle it.. great thanks for my gf for keeping sane all this while.. hehe!
Medshow begins on the 19th of August! For those around, do come to me and get a ticket! its just $5! hehe! I'm doing three dances and acting as 4 characters.. or 3.. i dun remember.. lol! The title for it is "Infatuate Capabilities, Love, its an absession!"

They released the medshow t-shirts too.. its red in colour.. and the title is printed in yellow.. The yellow actually represents... pus.. haha! From the title, absession...:P:P!! Urgh!!

The JPA scholars around are going to have a meeting in En.Zainal's house this sunday.. the same day we're celebrating Anne's birthday. haha! So i guess we're celebrating it at his place.. ? :P i'm so lazy to go there though.. haha! Have to travel.. Been a homely guy since i came here.. unlike the days in Taylors. where i'm not in every weekend.. haha!
